We are Northern Island Ltd (Northern Island), a limited company incorporated in Northern Ireland (company number NI070174) whose registered office is at Killinchy, Northern Ireland BT236SU.
We are specialist language travel organizers. Our business operates out of Northern Ireland (UK) and Republic of Ireland (ROI) and is directed towards international custom. Our services are as advertised.
Please read these booking conditions carefully as they are the sole terms & conditions of the contract between you and Northern Island for all bookings.
These terms & conditions apply equally to all nationalities. Your contract will be governed by British/Irish law and any disputes will be dealt with in the courts of Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland as applicable.
You may only use this site for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms & conditions. The person making the booking shall be deemed to have accepted the booking conditions on behalf of all the persons named in the booking.
No variation to these terms & conditions shall be of any effect unless made in writing by and with the authority of Northern Island. Northern Island reserves the right to alter these booking conditions at any time.
We observe the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) in respect of all personal data held by us at any time.
We will not use any personal data relating to you which we hold at any time for any purpose other than in connection with your booking. We will not pass on such data to third parties save where this is necessary in connection with the performance by us of our contract with you or as otherwise authorised by you. We may use such data to notify you of our services, offers and promotions from time to time. If you do not wish us to so notify you please let us know in writing.
Brochure and website content
We make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in our brochures and on our website. However, content is subject to change, often due to the actions of our suppliers (eg. activity providers). We will endeavour to notify you of any change known to us affecting your holiday prior to issuing you with our booking conﬁrmation.
All holidays are subject to availability.
When you make a booking with us you are making an offer to us to buy some of our advertised services. We reserve the right to refuse to accept and/or not to proceed with any booking at any time in our sole discretion. Once the contract is made between us we will perform our obligations to you in accordance with Our Terms.
All bookings must be made by a person aged eighteen years or over. Where your booking is for more than one person, the ﬁrst-named person in your party aged eighteen years or over will be treated by us as the ‘lead name’ for your booking. The lead name will be responsible for making all payments due to us in accordance with our contract.
Completion and submission by you of a booking will be treated by us as conﬁrmation that you have read, understood and accepted all Our Terms.
It is important that you accurately complete your booking . It is your responsibility to ensure that the details which you supply to us are correct.
You will be notiﬁed at the time of booking of the price of your holiday. The full holiday price of a booking should be made at least 30 days prior to departure (late booking). Depending on the chosen programme an initial non refundable deposit might be required.
Unless you are making a late booking, the balance owing must be paid to us no later than 30 days before your date of departure. If we do not receive the balance by this time then we will treat the booking as cancelled by you and you will be liable to pay our cancellation charges (see paragraph 3.2).
We accept payments only via international /national bank transfers.
The prices quoted in our brochure, on our website or in our publicity and promotions are correct at the time of publication. In the event of any change in our prices to those stated we will notify you prior to accepting your booking. All our prices are quoted in GBP£’s sterling or Euros as applicable.
We guarantee the price of your holiday stated in our booking confirmation.
Our holiday price does not normally include:
- Visa fees, overseas airport departure charges payable locally, porterage, personal expenditure, hotel extras.
- Taxes or compulsory charges introduced by Governments, regulatory bodies or airlines after you have booked.
- Security charges introduced or increased after you have booked which affect transportation costs
- Holiday insurance
The price payable by you for your holiday and what this price includes will be confirmed to you by us at the time of booking and set out in our booking confirmation.
Group bookings and discounts.
Some bookings or prices are dependent on the number of participants or occupants and if this applies to your holiday arrangements you will be notiﬁed by us at the time of booking. We reserve the right to make further charges where numbers fall below those required to qualify for the discount offered or price otherwise appropriate. We also reserve the right to cancel such a booking in the event that numbers fall below the required number at any time up to |30 days prior to your due date of departure.
Changes or cancellation by you
If you wish to make any other change to your booking at any time after our booking conﬁrmation has been issued, we will try but cannot promise to meet your request. We require your authority in writing before we can make any change. In the event that any change is requested in relation to a group booking we require the authority in writing of the lead name before we can make the change.
If you wish, following the issue to you by us of our booking conﬁrmation, to cancel your booking or any part of it relating to any person (in the case of a group booking), we will require your authority in writing or (in the case of a group booking) the authority in writing of the lead name to do so.
Our cancellation charges will apply (see the table ‘cancellation charges’ below). These are calculated with reference to the date on which we receive your authority in writing. We will not refund to you any deposits, administration charges or any other fees or charges made by us and paid by you relating to your holiday in the event of cancellation by you.
We incur costs from the time you make your booking and you agree that if you cancel your booking you will compensate us for our losses and expenses, as per the table below. Our cancellation charges increase the nearer the cancellation is made to your departure date as we may not be able to resell your holiday without making signiﬁcant price reductions, or at all.
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance cover for cancellation.

Changes made by Northern Island before travel
We will do all we can to tell you of any significant changes to your course arrangements. If you do not wish to accept the change, if we can, we will offer you an alternative course of equivalent or superior quality at no extra cost, or a less expensive course with a price refund. Alternatively, you can choose another course and pay or receive any price difference or cancel altogether, receiving a full refund less any amendment fees paid.
The suppliers of Northern Island reserve the right to cancel, change or substitute any service and to decline to accept or retain any course members at any time for any reason including, without limitation, an insufficient number of participants.
Our liability to you
We act only as a booking agent for the relevant supplier of any product on the booking and we have no liability of any kind whatsoever to you or your party or dependants for any death, personal injury, loss, consequential loss or damage of any kind you or your party or your dependants may suffer unless caused by our own negligence. Northern Island, our servants employees or agents are acting either as agents for the relevant supplier or as agent for you and your party.
Northern Island, its agents and suppliers also accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any government restraints, acts of war and terrorism, weather conditions, or for any misadventure or casualty or any other force majeure or causes beyond their control. Subject to the terms and conditions on this site, Northern Island´s liability shall be limited to up to the price paid for the booked arrangements.
It is a condition of our contract with you that you and all members of your party have suitable and sufficient travel insurance to cover your journey as neither Northern Island nor our suppliers can be held responsible for any liability, expenses or losses you incur as a result of being inadequately insured.
Passports/Visas and health requirements
It is the responsibility of all passengers, regardless of the passport they hold, to check with the appropriate consulates to determine if any visas are required. As visa and health requirements are subject to change without notice, it is recommended that verification prior to travel be made of existing foreign visa and health requirements. We will have no liability to you if you or any passenger travels without the correct passport or visa or health requirement and you will have to pay to us and the supplier any costs we incur through assisting you. Should you not have the correct visa in order to commence your course, you will have to pay to the supplier the full cost of the course.
Circumstances beyond Northern Island´s control
No compensation of any kind or responsibility can be taken if due to a circumstance beyond Northern Island´s control, we have to change your course after departure, or we or our suppliers cannot supply your course in full or in part as agreed, or you suffer any loss or damage of any description. A circumstance beyond our or our supplier’s control is one that cannot be foreseen or avoided, even after taking all due care and includes but is not limited to war, terrorist activity, civil unrest, industrial disputes and bad weather situations or forecasts.
Please note you are responsible for you and your party’s actions. If we or our suppliers believe your actions or those of your party could cause danger, upset or annoyance to other customers, guests or staff, we or our suppliers may end your booked arrangements immediately. In this event we, nor our suppliers will pay compensation, make refunds nor pay any expenses you suffer as a result.
If you have a complaint
If you have cause for complaint whilst on your course, this must be brought to the attention of your local Northern Island representative immediately so that action can be taken to remedy the problem. Failure to report your complaint in this way may jeopardize any claim you subsequently make. Complaints must also be notified in writing by email or letter to Northern Island within 28 days of the end of your trip.
Our Terms are updated from time to time. The terms and conditions which will apply to your holiday are those on our website at the time of booking. There may be additional terms and conditions which apply to our special offers, promotions and discounts from time to time. These will be notiﬁed to you at the time of booking should you inform us that you would like to take advantage of them.
