Hello and a very happy new year from the island!
The big thaw has finally happened and gone are those beautiful snow scapes for now! Now all attention is on preparing the best programmes for all our visitors this summer! Lets hope the weather gets better before then!
There is no point changing what is already working so this year we are back again with our junior classic programmes such as Family Integration and Farm integration. Back again is our popular programme at Campbell allowing you to attend a summer camp with local boys and girls and stay with one of them and their family. Also back due to popular demand is our popular residential camp, Mountain Adventure, allowing you to take part in a fantastic adventure camp with local boys and girls.
New for Juniors 2011 we have lots of new options each of them as always guaranteeing total immersion in the English language and contact with boys and girls of a similiar age. Check out the web for more details or see the following link:

Happy St. Patricks Day!
If you come to visit our island this summer you absolutely must come and visit my favourite drinking spot; Jarvis´ Bar in The Dufferin Arms Pub in Killyleagh. A magical little bar where times stands still. I was very saddened to hear of the very recent loss of Jarvis himself. He will be sorely missed. Surely one of the finest barmen the island has ever seen; a wise gentleman of few words. Jarvis R.I.P.
Here you have a photo of the legend himself in his bar:

Ingredients Irish Soda Bread
450g plain flour
1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon caster sugar
½ teaspoon salt
About 400ml buttermilk
Makes one large loaf
Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Gradually mix in the buttermilk to give a moist dough. Place in a greased 900g loaf tin and bake in an oven preheated to 230oC for 30 minutes, until the loaf sounds hollow when turned out of the tin and tapped underneath. Place on a wire rack to cool.
Just before we finally leave 2009 behind us and get ready for a great 2010 season I thought I should mention that it was a great privilege for us to recently win the Dermot Curran Young Achiever Award 2009, organised within the Down District. The Award was set up to encourage young entrepeneurs within the district . We are very happy to have won and hope that our company will bring both long term economic and social benefits to the community as a whole. Thanks once more to all involved.
Welcome to the new blog by Northern Island. Apart from telling you about new programmes, monthly recommendations and last minute deals, we will also hope to enlighten you on many reasons we believe make Northern Ireland the best place in the world to come and practise and learn English!
Of course the world is much bigger than our small island and recently we set sail to other shores to find Spanish courses in Spain and French courses in France for all our locals who want to learn a new language.
More to come in the next few days,
In the meantime, wrap up and keep warm!
